Very Rare Boosey & Hawkes 'Sessionair' Bb Trumpet from C1962 Serial number 341XXX in Silver plate and comes in what I believe is the original case along with two keys.
This trumpet has some fabulous compression and the valve action is very good considering it is now 56 years of age. It has plate wear on the 2nd slide and this has also seen a small dent repair in the past, also the main slide front has seen some dint repairs but overall it is in very good condition..
The only slightly down points are the area around the serial number and valve casing are worn slightly from holding as shown this is normal for well played horns, the slide stop nut is a replacement but works. Engraved on the bell is "Boosey & Hawkes B&H Made in England and SESSIONAIR. Also engraved on the bell near the 2nd valve casing is "LP" and the serial number.
So it is far from perfect or a closet horn, it has marks and could have some more time spent making it somewhat better but it plays very well ++ for its age, these really are very difficult to find now...
This is a great looking English trumpet which may have been an attempt by Boosey & Hawkes to conquer the jazz market. It was endorsed by, amongst others, Ernie Watson lead trumpet with the BBC Northern Dance Orchestra or (NDO)
Bell: 12.5 cm
